Stanford looking for water polo three-peat

The 12th NCAA women’s water polo championships, which begin today in Boston and conclude on Sunday, will have a California feel. Stanford, which has won three titles, is the two-time defending champion and the No. 2 seed this year. The top seed is Southern Cal, which has won two titles, most recently in 2010. UCLA, which has the most all-time titles with seven, is the third seed. Those three schools have won every title since the tournament began in 2001. This year they’ll be joined by Hawaii, UC-San Diego, Princeton, Iona and Pomona Pitzer.
