GREEN BAY, Wis. -- We still don't know exactly how different Mike McCarthy's ninth training camp as the Green Bay Packers coach will be – we just know he has said it will be different – but at least we know when it will begin.
The team announced Monday that players will report for training camp on July 25 and will practice for the first time on July 26. The time for the first practice was not announced.
"It's going to change a little bit," McCarthy said earlier this offseason when asked about his training camp schedule.
In recent years, McCarthy has reduced the number of night practices.
"You look at injuries, you look at your outcome, I feel like I haven't hit the target that I want to hit," McCarthy said. "So with that, I'll continue to change and adjust and emphasize the things I feel we need to do and that will be evident when they get back here in the offseason program. The offseason program is going to be different than it was the last two years and training camp will be also."
As for the rest of the offseason program, the Packers announced the dates for organized team activity (OTA) and minicamp practices that will be open to the public.
Open OTA dates:
Thursday, May 29
Tuesday, June 3
Tuesday, June 10
The OTA practices, weather permitting, will be on Ray Nitschke Field at 11:30 a.m. local time.
Mandatory minicamp dates:
Tuesday, June 17
Wednesday, June 18
Thursday, June 19
The minicamp practices, weather permitting, will be on Ray Nitschke Field. The exact time schedule has not been announced.
This weekend's rookie orientation camp is not open to fans.
