Cheick Diawara, a native of Guinea who lives in Dublin, Ohio, and received Division I first-team all-state honors this past fall, verbally committed to Wright State on Thursday evening, he confirmed.

Diawara, a Class of 2012 midfielder, is rostered for the Columbus Crew Soccer Academy under-17/18 team in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy, but has not yet appeared in a match this season.

In high school soccer at Scioto (Dublin, Ohio), Diawara scored 10 goals and assisted on eight, leading the squad to an 18-1 season. He was named the Ohio Capital Conference and Central District Player of the Year.

Diawara is the fourth confirmed commitment to Wright State, joining club teammate Brett Elder, fellow Ohio prospect John Sandmann and Quillan Roberts from Canada.
