WVU confirms early incoming freshman

Nick Raskasky, a defender from Tacoma, Wash., has enrolled early at West Virginia University, the school confirmed Monday.

Raskasky had started in seven of his eight appearances with the Seattle Sounders under-17/18 US Soccer Development Academy team in the fall. He leaves the club game with the Sounders in first place in the Northwest Division.

He was a Washington Olympic Development Program and Region IV participant from 2006-2009, before joining Crossfire in the Development Academy.

In high school, Raskasky was part of a talented Stadium (Tacoma, Wash.) program that reached the state semifinals in the spring of 2011. He played forward in high school.

Raskasky has enrolled for the spring 2012 semester and joins a WVU recruiting class that includes Haydon Bennett and Christopher Spates on Virginia, Zak Leedom of Ohio, James Merriam of Maryland and Kyle Underwood of Texas.
