Syracuse picks up U17 World Cup vet

Jordan Vale, a midfielder for the New Zealand Under-17 National Team who competed in the 2011 Under-17 World Cup, confirmed Monday that he has commited to Syracuse.

Vale started all four matches for New Zealand, which went 1-2-1 at the event. He scored a goal in the team's 4-1 victory over Uzbekistan.

He plays club soccer for Waitakere United, which had three players on New Zealand's Under-17 National Team.

Vale is part of a large Syracuse recruiting class that includes Anthony Asante, Alex Bono, Noah Rhynhart, Morgan Smith and Stefanos Stamoulacatos from New York and Alex Halis and Raphael Reynolds from Canada and Harrison Kendall from Pennsylvania .
