ODP Nationals: Michigan teams advance

Michigan is sending both teams to the finals following victories Friday at the US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program Championships in Frisco, Texas.

The event features the four ODP regional champions for teams comprised of players born in 1995 and 1996.

1995 Group

Ryan Scott jumpstarted Michigan's 2-1 victory over Tennessee with a goal in the second minute of play. Five minutes after Tennessee tied the score at 1, Matt Wilson delivered the game winner to send Michigan to the final against the defending champions from Virginia. Dale Ludwig scored the lone goal in Virginia's 1-0 semifinal win over California-South.

1996 Group

Florida and Michigan cruised to a national title showdown with 3-0 victories in the semifinals. Don Nakashima scored the first two goals in Michigan's win while Bradley Farias scored the second and third goals for Florida.
