Matthew Callahan, a Class of 2013 prospect from Newton, Mass., confirmed Wednesday that he has committed to Northeastern.
Callahan is the second recent commitment to Northeastern from the FC Greater Boston Development Academy program, joining Harrison Balder.
Callahan, a left-footed midfielder, has started in 20 of his 21 appearances this season with the FCGB Under-17/18 team, scoring one goal. The team is tied for second place in the division and in the running for a playoff spot.
He played two years of high school soccer at Newton North (Newton, Mass.), where he broke into the lineup as a freshman starter and helped the team to a state semifinal appearance a year later in 2010.
