Penn picks up high-scoring Academy player

Alec Neumann, a Class of 2013 prospect from New Hope, Pa., has verbally committed to the University of Pennsylvania, according to his family.

Neumann is the team captain for PDA's under-15/16 team in the Development Academy, which is currently ranked No. 2 in the ESPNHS Development Academy Power Rankings. Neumann has 10 goals this season in 21 matches while helping PDA to an 18-1-2 start. He scored 10 goals in 22 matches last season.

Neumann attends Council Rock North (Newtown, Pa.), where he earned all-conference first-team and all-Southeastern Pennsylvania second-team honors last fall. He led the team in scoring with 14 goals and 20 assists.

His brother, Steve, recently was named a team captain for Georgetown University's 2012 squad.

Alec Neumann is the second confirmed commitment to Penn for the Class of 2013, joining California native Travis Pillon.
