Tanner Sica, a Class of 2012 midfielder prospect from New Jersey, verbally committed to Long Island University, according to his family.

Sica plays club soccer for Match Fit Chelsea in the US Soccer Development Academy.

He is one of the leading high school scorers for Toms River North (Toms River, N.J.).

Sica is the second confirmed recruit for LIU, joining Logan Keys.

Why LIU?: "What attracted me most to LIU was T.J. Kostecky's coaching philosophy. I also liked Alex Elias, the assistant coach. They are both down-to-earth and easy to talk to. They are always available to speak with me and I feel like part of the team already. The idea of attending a campus in Brooklyn, N.Y., is also very appealing -- I love the city. They offer many of the [academic] fields I'm interest in expoloring."

What did you learn about the recruiting process?: "What I have realized about the recruiting process, it's so important to be noticed. I attended numerous camps and playing for Match Fit Chelsea helped get college coaches to reach out to me."
