West Virginia standout commits to Marshall

Tommy Trupo, a Class of 2012 forward prospect from West Virginia, verbally commited to Marshall, according to his high school soccer coach.

Trupo is a two-time high school state player of the year. He wrapped up the 2011 season with 40 goals and 17 assists while leading Charleston Catholic (Charleston, W.Va.) to a 23-0-2 season and a third straight state title.

Trupo was the Gatorade State Player of the Year for 2010. The 2011 honors will be announced in February.

He plays club soccer for West Virginia SC, and recently participated in the US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program 1994 team that competed in the NCAA Interregional in December.
