Maryland lands top prospect in Class of '13

Kellyn Acosta, the No. 1-rated prospect in the ESPNHS 150 for the Class of 2013, confirmed that he has verbally commited to the University of Maryland.

Acosta plays club soccer for the FC Dallas under-15/16 team, where the defender/midfielder has appeared in 13 matches, scoring three goals. FC Dallas is currently in third place in the Texas Division.

Last season, Acosta made 11 appearances with the U.S. Under-17 National Team, which included being a starting defender at last year's Under-17 World Cup in Mexico.

Acosta becomes the six confirmed commitment to Maryland, joining Alex Crognale from Ohio, Chris Odoi-Atsem from Maryland, Zackary Steffen from Pennsylvania and Suliaman Dainkeh and Nigel Robinson from Virginia.
