Jonathan Kupperman, who was recently selected to represent the U.S. at the Pan American Maccabi Games in Brazil next month, has verbally committed to Massachusetts, according to his family.

The Class of 2012 midfield/defender prospect from Los Angeles plays club soccer for Chivas USA in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy. Kupperman previously played for Cosmos Academy West. Kupperman has appeared in two matches this season with Chivas USA. Last year, with Cosmos West's under-17/18 team, he made 17 appearances with three starts.

Kupperman attends Campbell Hall (Los Angeles, Calif.), where he played high school soccer as a freshman and sophomore. He earned all-league honors as a sophomore.

He is the second confirmed commitment to UMass, joining Trey Patterson.
