Dallas Texans player opts for Memphis

Owen Kalis, a Class of 2012 defender/midfielder prospect from Texas, verbally commited to Memphis, he confirmed to ESPNHS on Monday.

Kalis plays club soccer for the Dallas Texans' under-17/18 U.S. Soccer Development Academy team. He has appeared in two matches this season. During the 2010-11 season, he started in 16 of his 26 appearances with the Andromeda under-15/16 Development Academy squad. He scored one goal while primarily playing defender.

Owen Kalis is the younger brother of Ian Kalis, who recently was selected by FC Dallas in the 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft.

Owen Kalis played high school soccer at Jesuit College Prep (Dallas, Texas).

Kalis joins a Memphis recruiting class that includes Jordan Cuckler from Oklahoma, Chris Gardea from Tennessee, Jack Goldberg from Alabama and Quincy Thomas from Pennsylvania.
