Lambkins thinking nationally: Colorado's cross country preview

Dyestat's Marc Bloom put together an impressive rundown of the cross country outlook in all 50 states, and it looks like it's going to be an impressive year in Colorado. Here's their breakdown of the state's XC scene:

"The great Fort Collins program, which swept state 5A in 2010, is in position not only for another sweep but for podium positions for both boys and girls at NXN. The returning NXN 6th-place boys and Southwest champs lose their top man but are still loaded.

The Lambkins will get plenty of action at home as 5A 3rd-placer Mountain Vista has everyone back, led by Stephen Chipman. Dakota Ridge and Smoky Hill are also strong, giving the state at least four hot squads in the region. In addition to Chipman, 4th at state last fall, other 5A threats include runner-up Danny Carney of Dakota Ridge, and Keifer Johnson of Thunderridge, who ran a 4:16 1600 at altitude last spring."
