POWERADE hoops rankings: New No. 1 in CT

Neither of the top two teams in the Connecticut POWERADE state rankings lost last week, but there has been a change at the top of the board anyway.

Hillhouse did nothing wrong in dropping from No. 1 to No. 2, winning its only game last week in comfortable fashion. But St. Joseph was extremely impressive in beating Archbishop Molloy (N.Y.) and No. 6 New London to win the Northeast Christmas Classic Tournament. On the strength of those victories, St. Joseph moves into the No. 1 spot for the first time this season.

Trinity Catholic and Fairfield Prep suffered the biggest drops of the week, as the Crusaders lost to New London and fell from No. 4 to No. 7. Fairfield Prep lost to Warde and slipped from No. 5 to No. 9.
