Colerain (Cincinnati) never trailed and upset POWERADE FAB 50 No. 24-ranked Cocoa (Cocoa, Fla.), 17-7 in the finale of the GEICO ESPN High School Kickoff. The Cardinals snapped the Tigers’ 38-game win streak that was the fourth-longest in the country.
Running back Jackson Sorn rushed for two touchdowns and senior LB Joe Bolden, a Michigan commit, finished with double-digit tackles to lead the defense. The win was huge for the state of Ohio and for the Cardinals from a national perspective. The Cincinnati school also extended their home winning streak to 63 consecutive games.
Cocoa will look to rebound next weekend as they take on Skyline (Dallas) at Cowboy Stadium. The Florida program figures to take a slide in this week’s FAB 50 team rankings that will be released on Monday.
