Nazareth wins first game after coach's death

The Nazareth (Brooklyn, N.Y.) girls' basketball team returned to the court on Wednesday night for the first time since the death of coach Apache Paschall.

The Lady Kingsmen, ranked No. 2 in the POWERADE FAB 50 national rankings, beat Archbishop Molloy (Queens, N.Y.) 77-63.

Paschall, 37, died on Jan. 3 of heart failure while battling an aggressive form of skin cancer.

"This game was so emotional," Nazareth's Brianna Butler told Robert Abruzzese on ESPNNewYork.com. "Losing our coach was a big toll, but playing, being out here on the court, it was just something that he would have wanted us to do."
