New Jersey's Alana Barry sets national field hockey record

Alana Barry didn't have to do much work for the Eastern (Voorhees, N.J.) field hockey team on Tuesday in a 10-0 win over Cherokee (Marlton, N.J.).

But thanks to four years of hard work, the senior goalkeeper still managed to set a national record.

Without having to stop a single shot, Barry recorded the 10th shutout of her season and the 68th of her career, topping the national mark of 67 shutouts set by Haley Exner of Scripps Ranch (San Diego, Calif.) in 2003.

"I'm surprised by this," Barry told the Philadelphia Inquirer. "I never thought it would happen."

Barry plans to play at Iowa next year.
