Billionaire leads basketball team to state title

Greenbrier East (Lewisburg, W. Va.) won the West Virginia Class AAA girls basketball title Saturday night with a 52-47 victory over top-seeded Bridgeport (Bridgeport, W.Va.) at the Charleston Civic Center.

The Spartans finished with a 26-1 record and the school's second state title -- its first since 1981 and first in seven state tournament appearances under coach Jim Justice. With an all-underclassman lineup including two freshmen, Greenbrier East should be favored to repeat next season.

Justice, the billionaire owner of The Greenbrier resort, also coaches the East boys basketball team, which advanced to the state Sweet 16 before losing.
