Minnesota star headed to Santa Clara

Jenna Roering, a Class of 2013 forward from Circle Pines, Minn., has verbally committed to Santa Clara, her family has confirmed with ESPNHS.

Roering gained national recognition in the ECNL where she plays a year up for Minnesota Thunder Academy. She scored eight goals in two matches at May’s PDA Showcase and led MTA to the US Youth Soccer Regional tournament in June and the ECNL National Championship tournament in July.

She also plays high school soccer at Centennial (Circle Pines, Minn.), where she was named to the Minnesota State High School Soccer Coaches Association first team last year as a sophomore.

Other Schools Considered: Florida State, Maryland, Stanford.

Why Santa Clara?: "High level soccer, national champions, beautiful campus and awesome coaching that can get me to the next level.

What did you learn about the recruiting process?: "It was really quick, and things happen so fast. My first verbal offer was in ninth grade. It is a lot of pressure to make such difficult decisions at such a young age."
