Haley Roberson, a Class of 2013 defender from Burke, Va., has verbally committed to Auburn, her family has confirmed to ESPNHS.

Roberson is a two-time regional ODP player for the VSA Heat, and has been selected to take part in national camps, as well. Last month she helped VSA Heat to a Virginia state championship and was noted as a key player in the US Youth Soccer National League event earlier this month.

She was a first team all-district forward at J.W. Robinson (Fairfax, Va.) during her sophomore season, as well as second team all-region. She remains a key part of the defense for the Rams entering her junior season.

Roberson becomes the third confirmed commit to Auburn for the Class of 2013, joining Savannah Jordan and Kelly Neeb.

Why Auburn?: "Auburn was the ideal choice for me for many reasons. The thought of being close to my family was very appealing since they reside practically two hours away. As well as the level of play that the team has, it is definitely at a level that I will be challenged to grow outside of my comfort zone. Lastly, the campus, the minute i stepped onto campus I knew that this was the place for me. It was beautiful and I loved the sense of the Auburn family."

What surprised you the most about the recruiting process?: "What surprised me the most about the recruiting process, was realizing that when it comes down to it there are 100s of other girls in the same position as me all across the nation. Once playing many teams through tournaments it was easy to see that many girls are just as good or better than me, it was a very humbling experience."
