Carson Cyphers, a Class of 2013 midfielder from Ashburn, Va., has verbally committed to Virginia Commonwealth, her family has confirmed to ESPNHS.

Cyphers is a junior for Stone Bridge (Ashburn, Va.), currently ranked No. 27 in the POWERADE FAB 50 Girls’ Soccer Spring Rankings. During her freshman season, Stone Bridge won the Virginia Group AAA state championship and finished the season at No. 1 in the FAB 50. This year, Cyphers helped lead the Bulldogs to an undefeated district championship and a trip to this week’s Virginia state playoffs.

On the club side, Cyphers plays defense and midfield for McLean MPS in the ECNL. She is a three-time US Youth Soccer Region I Olympic Development Program player, a five-time state ODP player and has played with ODP teams in six different countries. McLean’s U17 team is currently No. 1 in the ECNL Flight B standings and will be promoted to Flight A next year.

Cyphers becomes the second confirmed commitment to VCU for the Class of 2013, joining Rebecca von Bereghy and Alexandra Wong.
