As part of our weekly football coverage, I offer up my hypothetical fantasy football picks every Thursday. Note: This league is completely made up. If you are in a high school fantasy football league, please seek professional help.
QB — Wes Lunt, Rochester
We had to wait five weeks, but Lunt is finally back in action after breaking a bone in his foot before the season. The senior made his debut last week at Taylorville and showed a ton of rust (sarcasm alert) in going 23-for-30 for 343 yards and three touchdowns. With Rochester’s deep stable of receivers, Lunt is going to put up those kind of numbers every week.
Projection: 20 of 28, 390 yards, 4 TDs
RB — Parker Woodworth, Geneva
Few backs have been as consistently productive as Woodworth this season. He’s rushed for more than 100 yards in four of five games (and 97 in the other game) and scored at least two TDs in every contest. He’s got 661 yards and 14 touchdowns on the season, averaging a TD every 6.8 carries. You want Woodworth in your starting lineup every week, even against Friday’s opponent, Batavia (5-0, 7.8 points allowed per game).
Projection: 19 carries, 177 yards, 3 TDs
WR — Brad Anlauf, Hinsdale Central
With his 6-foot-3 frame, Anlauf offers a big target for QB Brian Owens, and Owens takes advantage of it. Anlauf has 351 receiving yards this season, and he’s trending upward. In the last three weeks, he’s gone for 93, 140 and 109 yards. He’s only got three touchdowns on the season, but Anlauf’s size makes him a perfect red zone target against Hinsdale South this week.
Projection: 8 catches, 123 yards, 1 TD
* Projections based on 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR format; No PPR
