Week 8 football preview and picks

Unlike last week, when we had an epic clash of No. 1 Warren Central vs. No. 2 Carmel, there is no monster game on the schedule this weekend. So let's jump right into the picks.

Week 8 Picks

No. 1 Warren Central (7-0) at Terre Haute South (3-4)

Friday, 7 p.m.

After escaping with an incredible, last-second win over Carmel last week, Warren Central gets a breather. No offense to Terre Haute South, but this should be over by halftime.

Warren Central 45, Terre Haute South 6

Terre Haute North (2-5) at No. 2 Carmel (6-1)

Friday, 7 p.m.

Carmel was tripped up on a last-second field goal last week, but the Greyhounds know they can win the state championship. Look for their final push to start today.

Carmel 38, Terre Haute North 0

Lawrence North (2-5) at No. 3 Ben Davis (6-1)

Friday, 7 p.m.

Just like Carmel, Ben Davis came close against Warren Central and is playing with a quiet confidence. This should be a rollover.

Ben Davis 42, Lawrence North 17

SB Riley (2-5) at No. 4 Penn (7-0)

Friday, 7 p.m.

Along with Warren Central, Penn is the only undefeated team left in the POWERADE state rankings. I expect that to hold up in this game.

Penn 36, SB Riley 8

Arsenal Tech (4-3) at No. 6 Cathedral (4-3)

Friday, 7 p.m.

Cathedral is might be playing its best ball of the season, and this is a good time to be peaking.

Cathedral 28, Arsenal Tech 12

No. 9 Brownsburg (6-1) at Zionsville (5-2)

Friday, 7 p.m.

The Zionsville defense is going through a rough stretch, and facing Isaac Beverstock (1,205 yards rushing, 10 touchdowns) won't help.

Brownsburg 35, Zionsville 12
