With Columbus East vs. Columbus North just hours away from game time, I thought we'd take a tour of ESPNHS's pregame coverage. The teams will play tonight at 7 p.m. on ESPNU as part of the ESPN High School Football Kickoff, and a big reason for the national TV presence is East quarterback Gunner Kiel. The senior is the No. 2-rated QB in the nation, and the Indiana commit talked to ESPNHS's Jon Mahoney about what it takes to be an elite signal-caller.
Now when I’m training, I always wake up and have a big, healthy breakfast, then either run or lift. I try to throw the ball at least three times a week. After that, I like to come home and hang out and relax with my family and friends — really just be a normal kid.
What I like most about playing quarterback is always being in control. At the end of the game, the ball is in your hands and it’s up to you to know what to do with it. That pressure is what I love. Without pressure, the game wouldn’t be fun.
