Locust Valley (Locust Valley, N.Y.) junior, Bairre Reilly, has given a verbal commitment to play women’s lacrosse for the University of Maryland.

Reilly was an ESPNHS All-American Honorable Mention selection last season after scoring 75 goals, including a nine-goal game against Syosset (Syosset, N.Y.) in April.

ESPNHS: What other school's did you consider?

Bairre Reilly: “The other school's I considered, during the recruit process, were University of Florida, University of North Carolina, Duke and Fairfield University.”

ESPNHS: What made Maryland such an attractive choice?

BR: “The first time I stepped onto Maryland’s campus, I knew it was the school for me. The coaching staff is amazing and the players made me feel very welcomed as a recruit. I wanted to be a part of a program that offered both a high level of academics a strong winning tradition. Maryland had everything I was looking for in a school.”

ESPNHS: What surprised you about the recruiting process?

BR: “What surprised me most about the recruiting process was how early it began in my lacrosse career.”

ESPNHS: What was the most important question you asked college coaches during the process?

BR: “The most important question I asked college coaches during the process was, "how do you see me contributing to your program?"

ESPNHS: What one piece of advice would you give to other players who are just starting on the recruiting process?

BR: “One piece of advice I would give to other players who are just starting the recruiting process would be, the recruiting process is going to be very stressful at times but learn to enjoy it because everything will work out for you in the end.”

ESPNHS: Is there anything about the recruiting process that you think could change that would have made it easier or less stressful for you?

BR: “It would have been a little easier and less stressful to be able to have full contact and a two-way dialogue with coaches in the early stages of the recruiting process.”
