Iona Prep (New Rochelle, N.Y.) junior defender, Ross Schnitzer, has given a verbal commitment to play men’s lacrosse for Loyola.
ESPNHS: What other school’s did you consider?
Ross Schnitzer: “I considered Marquette and UMBC.”
ESPNHS: What made Loyola such an attractive choice?
RS: “Loyola was an attractive choice for me mainly because of its excellent business school. I also liked that it is a small school, and is very diverse.”
ESPNHS: What surprised you about the recruiting process?
RS: “I was surprised about how quickly the recruiting process moves. During the summer, I would not have expected to be committed by November.”
ESPNHS: What was the most important question you asked college coaches during the process?
RS: “The most important question I had for the coaches was, what is the academic support that the lacrosse team receives?"
ESPNHS: What one piece of advice would you give to other players who are just starting on the recruiting process?
RS: “I would tell other players not to rush this process, and to wait until they find the school that is perfect for them; for lacrosse and academics.”
ESPNHS: Is there anything about the recruiting process that you think could change that would have made it easier or less stressful for you?
RS: “I would have liked the process to be delayed more. I was fortunate to find the school that was right for me, but other players should have more time to consider their offers.”
