ESPNHS: What other school’s did you consider?
Callie Santos: “University of New Hampshire, High Point University and Boston University.”
ESPNHS: What made UMass such an attractive choice?
CS: “Coaching staff, style of play, location to home, and amount of academic programs offered.”
ESPNHS: What surprised you about the recruiting process?
CS: “The amount of homework it takes to research the colleges.”
ESPNHS: What was the most important question you asked college coaches during the process?
CS: “Where do I fit into your program? Do you see me as an impact player?”
ESPNHS: What one piece of advice would you give to other players who are just starting on the recruiting process?
CS: “Start early! Send emails to schools you are interested in, contact coaches and send them your resume. Don't get stressed out have fun doing it!”
ESPNHS: Is there anything about the recruiting process that you think could change that would have made it easier or less stressful for you?
CS: “Change the coaches contact date from September 1st to August 1st, because the few weeks of junior year are stressful enough without all the emails and mailing coming everyday. By changing the date we would have a chance to visit the colleges in August without missing days of school in your Junior year.”
