Glenelg (Md.) junior chooses Denver

Natagne Van de Wall, a junior midfielder from Glenelg (Glenelg, Md.) has verbally committed to play women’s lacrosse for Denver.

ESPNHS: What other schools did you consider?

Natagne Van de Wall: “University of Florida, Jacksonville, Ohio State University, George Washington University.”

ESPNHS: What made Denver such an attractive choice?

NV: “It was one of my top schools from day one and I absolutely love the campus, school, and the coaches. Everyone there is so nice and inviting!”

ESPNHS: What surprised you about the recruiting process?

NV: “It was a lot shorter than I expected and went really fast! I started emailing coaches and schools in June and was committed by September.”

ESPNHS: What was the most important question you asked college coaches during the process?

NV: “How much support athletes get when it comes to academics and how well athletes are able to balance their time with school, college life, and practice/games.”

ESPNHS: What one piece of advice would you give to other players who are just starting on the recruiting process?

NV: “It isn't as scary and stressful as you think! It takes some time, but if you narrow down your schools and make a list of your Top 5 you will have a lot easier time deciding where you want to go!”

ESPNHS: Is there anything about the recruiting process that you think could change that would have made it easier or less stressful for you?

NV: “It would be a lot easier and less stressful if college coaches could call you instead of you having to call them. It's not easy to pick up the phone and talk to a coach.”
