John Carroll (Bel Air, Md.) junior defender Jordan Clarke has made a verbal commitment to play women's lacrosse for Towson University.

Clarke plays club lacrosse for the Maryland based team TLC 2013 RED.

ESPNHS: What other school’s did you consider?

Jordan Clarke: "I considered Johns Hopkins, Fairfield University, UMBC, Brown, Delaware, and various D-III schools."

ESPNHS: What made Towson such an attractive choice?

JC: "I believe that Towson is an up and coming D-I women's lacrosse program. I see that is has a lot of potential and I wanted to be a part of their growing success. They are a force to be reckoned with, and they are getting stronger with each season. Also, I love the state of Maryland, I was born and raised in Baltimore, so I found it fitting to spend my college years in the state and area that I hold dear to my heart. Towson also insists and makes sure that their athletes are excelling in the classroom as well as on the field."

ESPNHS: What surprised you about the recruiting process?

JC: "It was surprising how quickly you could lose an opportunity if you did not openly communicate with a coach, promptly and efficiently."

ESPNHS: What was the most important question you asked college coaches during the process?

JC: "Time Management. I asked how would I be able to balance academics and athletics, and how demanding was the program."

ESPNHS: What one piece of advice would you give to other players who are just starting on the recruiting process?

JC: "Send out emails as quickly and as efficiently as possible. Keep the lines of communication open and do not hesitate to call coaches. They cannot call you back. Be persistent and always do the emails and calling yourself. Do not let your parents do it for you."

ESPNHS: Is there anything about the recruiting process that you think could change that would have made it easier or less stressful for you?

JC: "Starting earlier with emailing and school website researching. Checking out the majors the school offers, the size of the school, how many students, the area the school is in, etc."
