Kent Island (Md.) junior to Presbyterian

Kent Island (Stevensville, Md.) junior goalie Taylor Lyles has verbally committed to play women's lacrosse for Presbyterian College.

ESPNHS: What other school’s did you consider?

Taylor Lyles: "I was seriously considering Howard University, LaSalle University, Delaware State, and Stevenson University."

ESPNHS: What made Presbyterian such an attractive choice?

TL: "The most important thing for me was finding a school that had a good Business program. I always knew that a small school would fit me the best and provide me with many opportunities to get involved and allow a strong sense of student community. I also wanted to make sure I loved the school first despite my desire to play lacrosse. Could I actually see myself attending this school if I were not a student athlete? The answer is: yes!"

ESPNHS: What surprised you about the recruiting process?

TL: "The thing that surprised me the most about the recruiting process was how early you really have to start the process and the tremendous amount of work it truly takes. This was my family's first experience with the process, and my twin brother Jordan and I were amazed at the amount of time that it required."

ESPNHS: What was the most important question you asked college coaches during the process?

TL: "The most important question that I asked coaches was how lacrosse and being a member of the team would affect my academics."

ESPNHS: What one piece of advice would you give to other players who are just starting on the recruiting process?

TL: "The one piece of advice I would give to other athletes would be to prepare yourself on spending a lot of time getting organized and only target schools that fit what you want both academically and athletically. If you play for a club team, work with them to make sure you’re headed down the right path. They have a wealth of knowledge and you should definitely tap into that resource."

ESPNHS: Is there anything about the recruiting process that you think could change that would have made it easier or less stressful for you?

TL: "I wish I had started the process sooner. There would have been less stress on my end and would have saved my mom some gray hairs!"
