Olentangy Orange (Lewis Center, Ohio) senior midfielder, Daniel Bull, has given a verbal commitment to play men’s lacrosse for Virginia Military Institute (VMI).
Bull scored 35 goals and added 21 assists last season, earning All-Ohio Capital Conference and Team MVP honors.
ESPNHS: What other school’s did you consider?
Daniel Bull: “My short list ended up being Detroit Mercy, Robert Morris and Army.”
EHS: What made VMI such an attractive choice?
DB: “It offers an elite education, and gives me the best opportunity with my career after college, also I can be a part of a program that’s growing and on its way up which I believe I have an opportunity to make an impact.”
EHS: What surprised you about the recruiting process?
DB: “The most surprising thing to me was how early the recruiting began, I wasn’t expecting it to begin right after my Sophomore season.”
EHS: What was the most important question you asked college coaches during the process?
DB: “Beyond academics, what their level of interest was, and just what they saw in me as a player that fits in with their program.”
EHS: What one piece of advice would you give to other players who are just starting on the recruiting process?
DB: “Look for a school that if lacrosse was for some reason taken out of the picture, you would still want to attend that school, and be patient.”
EHS: Is there anything about the recruiting process that you think could change that would have made it easier or less stressful for you?
DB: “There are a lot of limitations with the way they can contact you that can become frustrating, but that’s the only thing that could’ve made it easier.”
