Paige Jenkins, a junior at Bayard Rustin (West Chester, Pa.) has verbally committed to play women's lacrosse for Winthrop.

ESPNHS: What other school’s did you consider?

Paige Jenkins: "I'm interested in education so I looked at a variety of D-I and D-III schools that had this major, a good lacrosse program and were geographically desirable to me."

ESPNHS: What made Winthrop such an attractive choice?

PJ: "Besides having the right combination of athletics, academic programs and location, I am excited to be apart of a new program. I felt really comfortable with coach Sung and coach Shimp after meeting with them and look forward to growing as a player under their direction."

ESPNHS: What surprised you about the recruiting process?

PJ: "I learned that it is a lot of work and takes a lot of time during a very important year of high school."

ESPNHS: What was the most important question you asked college coaches during the process?

PJ: "I wanted to know if I had the ability to contribute on the field as a freshman."

ESPNHS: What one piece of advice would you give to other players who are just starting on the recruiting process?

PJ: "I would advise players to attend the camps and clinics at the schools that interest them. This can be difficult because when you're a freshman or sophomore, you don't always know where you want to go."

ESPNHS: Is there anything about the recruiting process that you think could change that would have made it easier or less stressful for you?

PJ: "I think the rules about the type of communication you can or cannot have between the coaches and the players is very confusing."
