Week 4 football preview and picks: Everett vs. Barnstable

No. 1 Everett has looked invincible through the first three weeks of the season, but they'll be facing a different kind of test tomorrow against Barnstable. The Raiders feature one of the state's most prolific passing attacks, led by senior QB D.J. Crook. Barnstable likely won't be able to slow down the Everett offense at all (too much size, skill, Jonathan DiBiaso, etc), so it should be an entertaining game.

The Game:

No. 1 Everett at Barnstable

Saturday, 4 p.m.

The Players:

Everett — You know all about Jonathan DiBiaso, but Vondell Langston has been incredible this season. The senior LB/RB is a powerful runner on offense and one of the Crimson Tide's most powerful defensive players. He'll have work cut out for him on the defensive side tomorrow, chasing Barnstable receivers across the middle.

Barnstable — D.J. Crook is working toward the state record for touchdown passes, so slowing him down is obviously the main objective for Everett. But Crook is mobile and decisive, so he should have time to make plays. He'll need to have a huge game to keep Barnstable in it.

The Stakes:

For Everett, the Tide gets to test themselves against a different type of offensive attack. Barnstable gets to host the undisputed No. 1 team in the state and try to pull the upset.

The Prediction:

Barnstable can try to spread it out all they want, but the Everett defense will prove to be too good. They'll wear down the Barnstable offensive line and have Crook running for his life by the end of the game. On defense, Everett will crank up the running game and finish it off with DiBiaso passes in the red zone.
