Stock Watch: Delorey, Hoxter enjoy big weeks

Who impressed the Stock Watch committee during the first week of the new year? One hoops player came up clutch in a big-time rivalry game, while the other is proving he can lead a state-championship contender.

UP — Tyler Delorey, Holy Name

The two best teams in Central Mass met on Friday night, and blood rivals Holy Name and St. Peter-Marian didn't disappoint. Holy Name, the No. 7 team in the POWERADE state rankings, was trailing by two with less than 10 seconds remaining when Delorey came through in a big way. The senior guard buried a huge 3-pointer with seven seconds left to give the Naps a 70-69 victory. Delorey finished the game with 15 points and eight rebounds; his game-winning triple was his fourth long-distance connection.

UP — Tyrese Hoxter, Charlestown

Charlestown continues to hang around the top of the POWERADE state rankings, and Hoxter is a big reason for that. The junior forward is averaging 24 points and 11 rebounds per game, and he went absolutely nuts against Hope on Saturday. Hoxter posted 29 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists in a 73-58 victory.
