As part of our weekly football coverage, I offer up my hypothetical fantasy football picks every Thursday. Note: This league is completely made up. If you are in a high school fantasy football league, please seek professional help.
RB — Dan Flink, Auburn
Flink has emerged as the latest superstar from Auburn, which has won a state-best 40 consecutive games. In Week 1, he ran for 94 yards. In Week 2, it was 156. Last week, it was 191 and two touchdowns. So when I tell you that his opponent tomorrow is Millbury, which has allowed 31.7 points per game this season, your first move should be acquiring Flink and putting him in your starting lineup.
Projection: 22 carries, 175 yards, 3 TDs
QB — R.J. Noel, Lowell
Lowell is throwing the ball around like no other team in the state, so obviously you’re going to want their quarterback and receivers. Noel has already passed for 815 yards and seven touchdowns through three games, and he’s got Methuen (18.7 points allowed per game) on the schedule this week. Look for about 35 pass attempts and plenty of yardage.
Projection: 17 of 32, 280 yards, 3 TDs
WR — Tevin Jones, Springfield Commerce
Jones has been the most productive receiver in WMass through the early part of the season, with 348 receiving yards and five touchdown catches in the first three games. And he also brings some special teams value — he returned a kick for a touchdown last week against Ludlow, and he’s also kicked three extra points this year. Hey, every point helps.
Projection: 6 catches, 121 yards, 2 TDs
* Projections based on 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR format; No PPR
