Following a first week of upsets and shake-ups, things went as expected in the second week of Missouri football. The top 10 remained the same, except Blue Springs' defensive woes sent it out of the rankings while its rival Blue Springs South moved in.
1. Rockhurst 2-0 (1)
The Hawklets put up another 35-20 victory, this time against Hutchinson. Next up for the Class 6 power: Blue Springs South on Friday.
2. Lee's Summit West 2-0 (2)
The Titans rolled to a 45-9 victory against Central, maintaining their spot in the state and regional rankings. North Kansas City will come to town on Friday.
3. DeSmet (St. Louis) 2-0 (3)
With the heat bearing down on them and stars Durron Neal and KeVonn Mabon missing most of the second half with cramps, the Spartans showed their depth and grit in a 14-12 victory against Hazelwood East. DeSmet will again be tested this Friday when it travels to No. 5 Christian Brothers.
4. Staley (Kansas City) 2-0 (4)
Trent Hosick and Morgan Steward couldn't be stopped last week, totaling 417 yards and six touchdowns in a 47-25 win that pushed Blue Springs out of the rankings. The Falcons will play at Platte County on Friday.
5. Christian Brothers (St. Louis) 2-0 (5)
The Cadets handily defeated Howell Central, 64-0, giving them a bit of momentum before they host No. 3 DeSmet on Friday.
6. Webster Groves 2-0 (6)
The Statesman had little trouble with University City in a 44-8 victory, but a tough matchup lurks Friday when they face SLUH, a team that played Webster Groves mighty close last year.
7. Fort Zumwalt West (O'Fallon) 2-0 (7)
The Jaguars bounced back from their season-opening loss in a big way, defeating Howell North 52-0. Fort Zumwalt West will play the second of a three-game road trip at Bentonville (Ark.).
8. Kirkwood 1-0 (8)
After some time to relax on their bye week, the Pioneers will get back in action against Seckman on Friday.
9. Webb City 2-0 (9)
The Cardinals continued their winning ways, defeating Willard, 41-0. Next up is a road contest against Branson.
10. Blue Springs South 2-0 (Unranked)
Thanks to a 37-14 win against Park Hill South and the slow start of rival in Blue Spring, the Jaguars are in the rankings. But the road gets incredibly from here, with road games against defending state champs Rockhurst and Lee's Summit West looming.
Dropped out: No. 10 Blue Springs 0-2
On the bubble: Bolivar, Fort Osage, Harrisonville, Hazelwood Central (Florissant), Howell (St. Charles), Jefferson City, Kearney, Lafayette (Wildwood), MICDS (St. Louis), Park Hill (Kansas City), Parkway Central (Chesterfield), Penney (Hamlilton), Richmond, Rock Bridge (Columbia), Union
