Jordon Granger had already taken a liking to Auburn's basketball team before this past weekend. But after attending Midnight Madness on Friday and enjoying the atmosphere surrounding the defending BCS champs at a Saturday football game, Granger fell in love.
The McCluer North forward committed to Auburn's hoops program Saturday, making him the second Stars player to pledge to the SEC in two years. B.J. Young is now at Arkansas after leading the Stars to the Class 5 title last year.
"The weekend was crazy. It was just great people and a great atmosphere," Granger said in a Monday phone conversation. "They play defense first and that's the type of team I want to play for in the SEC. Plus, they are a long, lean and athletic team, which fits well with me."
Granger, who said he plans to sign with the Tigers during in November, averaged 14.8 points, 8.8 rebounds and 3.8 blocks for the Stars last year. The senior forward also considered Arkansas, Missouri, Ohio, Illinois and Detroit.
