Avallone, O'Connor highlight lax goalie rankings

ESPNHS is releasing its 2012 lacrosse rankings on a position-by-position basis, with the Top 25 goalies starting things off. New Jersey was represented well in the top 10, as Mendham's Tyler Avallone and Lawrenceville's Matt O'Connor made the cut. Here’s what our lacrosse expert Tom Peace had to say about the two:

2. Tyler Avallone, Mendham, Syracuse commit

Avallone has a nice game in the cage -- doesn’t shy away from using his body to make a save. Avallone made First team All-State and played for the New Jersey underclass team at the Under Armour games.

5. Matt O’Connor, Lawrenceville, Princeton commit

O’Connor was named to the Newark Star-Ledger All-Prep team for the 2011 season. The Lawrenceville rising senior clears the ball well and is a vocal leader. O’Connor will do well at the next level.
