File this one in the "shocking but not shocking" category, if you will.
Don Bosco Prep has relieved baseball coach Mark DeManna of his duties after just one season. What's shocking is that, in his lone campaign at the helm, DeManna led the Ironmen to a 25-1 record and the Bergen County championship. What's not shocking is that DeManna only lasted one year, what with the Ironmen having four different coaches since 2007.
According to this Star-Ledger report, DeManna plans to fight for his position as coach after apparently being blindsided by the move. The coaching shuffle, which has included former Yankee Mike Stanton in 2010, is puzzling considering the program's success. In 2008, the Ironmen finished 33-0 and won the Non-Public A state title.
