2011 final NY football rankings: St. Anthony's is No. 1

Despite a hurricane that wiped out their first contest and injuries that threated to wipe out various players throughout the season, St. Anthony's withstood a storm of upset bids to finish as New York's top team. The Friars cemented their wire-to-wire No. 1 ranking with a 14-0 win against Archbishop-Stepianc in the CHSFL Class AAA championship.

Just behind them was Orchard Park, which also repeated as champs in Class AA. The Quakers fought off Newburgh Free Academy for a 21-13 win.

The playoffs brought about a huge shake-up in the final rankings, as six teams fell out of the rankings, allowing the likes of Class A champion Maine-Endwell and MMA champ St. Francis to claim a spot in the final rundown.

Here are how the final rankings shake out (regular-season final rankings are in parentheses):

1. St. Anthony's (Mehlville) 10-0 (1)

Friars went wire to wire as state's top team by three-peating as CHSFL AAA champs with 14-0 win against Archbishop-Stepinac and pushing win streak to 29 games.

2. Orchard Park 13-0 (2)

Quakers downed Newburgh Free Academy, 21-13, to complete perfect season and repeat Class AA state crown.

3. Lincoln 13-0 (5)

Far exceeded expectations with undefeated season and PSAL title with 20-12 win against Erasmus Hall.
