CHSFL battles highlight Week 4 New York football

No. 1 St. Anthony's (3-0) vs. Archbishop-Stepinac (4-0)

The top-ranked Friars continue a tough slate of early-season road games against the undefeated Crusaders. For Archbishop-Stepinac, this will be a great gauge as to how they stack up in the CHSFL, what with some calling the Crusaders the league's second-best squad. Granted, they are facing the undisputed top team, a team known for wearing down its opponents late, as the Friars did last week in a comeback win against Holy Cross. That final period will be key, as the Crusaders are known for pouring it on early while the Friars grind it out until the end.

My pick: St. Anthony's 27, Archbishop-Stepinac 21

Iona Prep at Fordham Prep

Iona Prep has been in the news a lot lately, thanks to Diddy's son, Justin Combs. The senior has played well in backup quarterback duty the last two weeks, leading the Gaels to a win against Monsignor Farrell and a near comeback against Xaverian. Combs also was selected to play in the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl this coming January. Of course, Fordham Prep knows all of this and likely doesn't care. After all, the Rams have something to prove after being blanked by St. Anthony's two weeks ago and barely beating Kellenberg Memorial last week. The Gaels are a bit more explosive than Fordham Prep, with Combs, Mario Biaggi and Shaquille Townsend at their disposal -- a factor that should make the difference in this game.

My pick: Iona Prep 24, Fordham Prep 17
