NC Week 9 hoops rankings: Greensboro Day moves to No. 3

After games on Sunday, Feb. 5

Playoff time is getting closer, making every game that much more intense and critical. For instance, last Friday saw Harding once again give top-ranked Olympic all it could handle before falling a three-pointer short of the upset. The Trojans, who are ranked No. 30 in the POWERADE FAB 50 rankings, will have to fight for an undefeated regular season, as games with Berry Academy and Charlotte Catholic are on tap this week.

Greensboro Day made another move in the state rankings after holding off a Wesleyan Christian team that knocked off High Point Christian two weeks ago and features All-State players Theo Pinson and Montay Brandon.

Here are this week's rankings (last week's rankings in parentheses):

1. Olympic (Charlotte) 22-0 (1)

Trojans pulled out another close win against Harding, riding Allerik Freeman's 21 points to a 65-62 win. Next up: two matchups with Berry and Charlotte Catholic.

2. Christ School (Arden) 25-3 (2)

Greenies put up a fight, but it wasn't enough to knock off FAB No. 1 Oak Hill Academy (Va.) in a 71-63 loss. Next up: Shannon Forest Christian on Wednesday.

3. Greensboro Day 26-2 (4)

Bengals move up one slot after narrowly beating Wesleyan Christian, the same team that handed High Point Christian its lone loss.
