The state playoffs continue this weekend, and we're highlighting four of the top matchups on the gridiron. Check out the entire playoff brackets here and keep reading for more on this weekend's slate of games.
Grant at Sheldon
This is easily the game of the week in Oregon. Sheldon has run roughshod over every opponent it's faced this year, outscoring foes by an insane 527-104 margin. QB Dillon Miller kept the offense sizzling in the playoffs, passing for three TDs in a 45-21 win over Lincoln last week. The team has also enjoyed the emergence of junior Connor Strahm, who collected 269 total yards against Lincoln. If there's one team in the state with the athletes and firepower to challenge Sheldon, it's Grant. The Generals have topped the 40-point mark in each of its last four games, and the return of junior Nathan Halverson has added another weapon for QB Paris Penn. Points will come in bunches in this one.
Tigard at Jesuit
You won't be disappointed in this matchup of high-scoring 6A heavyweights. Tigard enters the contest with an unblemished 11-0 mark and is averaging an astounding 49.9 points a contest while the defense has yielded 25 or more points only once this season. On the other side of the field is the Nicholas Rothstein-led Crusaders, who have regained their swagger after a pair of surprising September losses. Jesuit rebounded to claim wins in six of its last seven, including a 22-14 win over a tough Tualatin team last week.
Mountain View at Marist
The Cougars defense is holding foes to less than 15 points a game. They will be really tested by a Marist squad that scores at will and hasn't been held under 40 points since Week 1.
Elmira at La Salle Prep
Elmira enters this contest winners of nine straight and with a stifling defense that punishes ball-carriers, while La Salle, led by clutch quarterback/kicker Mark Holenstein, puts its undefeated mark and 12-game win streak on the line.
