A dedicated ESPNHS team managed the Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year selection process, resulting in this winner based on the program's three pillars: athletic production and impact in the 2011-12 season, high academic achievement and exemplary personal character.

THE WINNER: Bryce Feist
School: Rocky Mountain (Meridian, Idaho)
Weight: 190 pounds
Athletic achievement: Feist led the Grizzlies (27-1) to the Class 5A state championship this past season. He batted .471 with three home runs, 44 RBI and a 1.340 OPS. The 2012 Southern Idaho Conference Player of the Year, Feist also posted a 6-0 record on the mound along with a 1.87 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 33 innings pitched.
Academic excellence: Feist has maintained a B average in the classroom.
Exemplary character: A devoted member of his church community, he has volunteered locally on behalf of various charity fundraising initiatives in addition to donating his time as a youth baseball coach and camp counselor.
“Bryce Feist is a heck of a competitor and player,” said Rod Williams, head coach at Meridian (Idaho). “He is the heart and soul of a state championship team. He plays a phenomenal third base and is an above-average pitcher. ”
THE FUTURE: Feist has signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball on an athletic scholarship at Dixie State University this fall.
