POY Alumni: Justin Worley following Peyton Manning's footsteps

Earlier this week, we covered the rise from third-string quarterback to Saturday's starter for University of Tennessee freshman Justin Worley, the 2010-11 Gatorade National Football Player of the Year.

Now, we ask the question: Could Worley follow in the footsteps of another former Volunteer and National POY, 1992-93 honoree Peyton Manning?

As a Tennessee freshman, Manning also started the season as the third-string QB, but injuries to starter Jerry Colquitt and backup Todd Helton three weeks apart forced him to take over. (Interesting side note: Helton, the current Colorado Rockies first baseman, captured Gatorade 1991-92 Tennessee Player of the Year honors in both baseball and football as a senior at Central High in Knoxville).

In Manning's first start under center, he led the Vols to a 10-9 victory against Washington State and nearly ran the table during a season that ended with a 45-23 win over Virginia Tech in the Gator Bowl.

What will Worley do in his debut against No. 13 South Carolina on Saturday night?
