Texas Week 3 baseball rankings: Klein Collins, Tomball enter POWERADE FAB 50

After games on Monday, March 19

Two big games are on tap this week with potential to shake up the rankings. Following a rain delay, No. 2 Calallen, ranked No. 5 in the POWERADE FAB 50, will face off against No. 8 Moody in a District 31-4A matchup on Wednesday. Calallen has yet to lose through 18 games, but Moody presents the first big challenge of the season.

Klein Collins and Tomball both entered the POWERADE FAB 50 this week. And in turn, they are rewarded with a huge District 13-5A battle on Friday against one another with sole possession of first place on the line. Klein Collins has won 12 straight, while Tomball has been impressive behind lefty ace Rex Hill on the mound.

Here are this week's rankings (last week's rankings in parentheses):

1. Carroll (Corpus Christi) 11-0 (1)

Tigers remained hot, beating Seguin by the count of 12-1.

2. Calallen (Corpus Christi) 18-0 (2)

Wildcats notched three victories last week, including a victory against Kingsville that saw Desi Castillo strike out 10 in five innings. A rain delay pushed a big matchup with No. 8 Moody to Wednesday.

3. Churchill (San Antonio) 16-1 (4)

Chargers rise in rankings after outscoring opponents 28-6 over the course of three wins. Nate Harris has been spectacular on the mound while Zane Gurwitz is batting a team-high .565 with 23 RBIs.
