Final 2011 football rankings

Good Counsel went wire-to-wire as the No. 1 team in the local rankings after dispatching Gonzaga in the WCAC title game. The Falcons ended the season 12-0 and ranked fifth in the POWERADE FAB 50. Maryland 4A champ Old Mill vaulted to No. 2 after taking down previously undefeated Quince Orchard in the finals. Despite a loss in the title game, Centreville emerged as Virginia's top squad at No. 3. Briar Woods and River Hill used their state title runs to reenter the top 10.

Here's how the top three teams fared last week:

1. Good Counsel — Won WCAC title (Final regular season ranking: No. 1)

2. Old Mill — Won Class 4A title (Final regular season ranking: No. 8)

3. Centreville — lost to Oscar Smith in finals, 47-21 (last week: No. 4)
