Reading the coverage of the Texans ...
The Chronicle's John McClain had DeAndre Hopkins going to the Texans in mock drafts for months before it actually happened, surprising even Hopkins, since he spent nearly no time interacting with the Texans before the draft. Here is McClain's 53-man roster prediction ahead of Saturday's cutdown deadline. There are two undrafted rookies and three quarterbacks on the list. McClain spells it out a little bit more clearly in this story. "Gary Kubiak hasn't made it official yet, but of course he's going to keep three quarterbacks."
Both the Texans and the Cowboys have starting quarterbacks who garner a lot of attention, but in Thursday's preseason finale, their reserves will factor prominently, too. Schuyler Dixon of the Associated Press takes a look at the two teams' quarterback situations.
There won't be many starters when the Texans play the Cowboys tonight, but Lance Zierlein takes a look at the previous game, during which there were. His look at the first half against the Saints.
It won't exactly be an upset if I never link to People magazine again. But yesterday that publication brought us the news that two names very familiar to Houston fans will compete on the CBS-TV reality show "The Amazing Race." Former Texans linemen Ephraim Salaam and Chester Pitts, both of whom have television jobs, will be teammates again on the show.
