RTC: On turnovers, offensive and defensive

Reading the coverage of the Houston Texans...

James Palmer of CSN Houston wraps up the day's events in one minute and 43 seconds. He covers injuries, Danieal Manning and Shiloh Keo taking over kick and punt returns if Keshawn Martin can't, and Ed Reed's words of wisdom in this video.

A by the numbers look at quarterback Matt Schaub's season so far from Patrick D. Starr of StateoftheTexans.com. He notes that only Eli Manning has more interceptions than Schaub does right now. And Manning did well to keep the league lead during Thursday night's game against the Chicago Bears when he threw three interceptions -- one a pick-six, giving him the same interception numbers as Schaub had last weekend.

Speaking of which...

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said during halftime of that game that Texans coach Gary Kubiak won't hesitate to bench quarterback Matt Schaub for good if he continues to turn the ball over. Kubiak made it pretty clear during his Wednesday press conference that Schaub's job status is in jeopardy.

The Texans defense needs to force more turnovers, writes John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, echoing the thoughts of defensive coordinator Wade Phillips and various players.
